Events by Knight was recently engaged by a corporate firm in London to provide the audiovisual and technical services for a live news conference to ensure the smooth transmission of audio and video content to viewers.

With less than 10 hours to go before the live broadcast, creative event producer Kwame Knight assembled the technical team and organised the schedule for the broadcast that featured on news outlets such as BBC NEWS, SKY NEWS & many more.

Having years of experience in live broadcasts and events, Events by Knight is adept at working to tight deadlines and challenging briefs. Events by Knight always go above and beyond to ensure that nothing but a professional service is delivered.

Below is an overview of what was involved:

  • Camera Setup: Setting up cameras at the location to capture the news anchors, reporters, and relevant visuals.
  • Lighting: A good lighting setup was crucial to ensure that the on-air speakers were well-lit and that the set looked professional.
  • Audio Equipment: This involved the deployment handheld and lapel microphones to capture the voices of the reporters and speakers and any ambient sound needed to convey the story accurately.
  • Video Switching: A video switcher/mixer was utilised to switch between different camera feeds, graphics, and pre-recorded video segments during the broadcast.
  • Graphics and Lower Thirds: On-screen graphics, lower thirds, and other visual elements that provide context and information to viewers.
  • Transmission Equipment: Equipment for transmitting the live broadcast signal to the station's master control or satellite uplink for distribution to viewers.
  • Monitoring: Technicians were on hand to monitor audio levels, video quality, and the technical aspects of the broadcast to ensure everything was working smoothly and according to plan.
  • Backup Systems: Redundant systems and backup plans were in place to handle any technical issues or equipment failures that could have arisen during the live broadcast.
  • Coordination: Close coordination between the producer, camera operators, audio engineers, and other crew members was essential for a successful live broadcast.
  • Post-Production: After the live broadcast, there was post-production work to edit and archive the footage for future use.
