Located in South Kensington, London, the Natural History Museum exhibits a vast and varied range of specimens from different sections of natural history. It is one of three major museums on the same road, the others being the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

It was opened in 1881 and was part of the British Museum and was known as the British Museum (Natural History), until after it was granted independence in 1963, the name was finally changed in 1992 to The Natural History Museum.
