About The Roundhouse

The Roundhouse is a stunning Grade II listed building that started life as a steam-engine repair shed in Victorian times and is now a legendary music venue.  The circular building opened in 1847 and was a celebrated piece of civil engineering.  Sadly, after just 20 years with technological developments in the UK at the time, the engines grew too big to fit in the building.

In 1869 the Roundhouse was leased by a man called Gilbey of Gilbeys Gin and used the space as a warehouse for his liquor.  This lease was held for more than 90 years for this use and soon attracted attention from students and others who admired the architecture.

From 1964 it became a cultural venue and in the 60s and 70s, legendary stars such as Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and Pink Floyd performed there.  Following a £30m refurbishment in 2004, the Roundhouse re-opened in 2006 putting it back on the map as an iconic music venue with performances from Radiohead, Amy Winehouse, The Chemical Brothers and many more.  The Roundhouse also incorporates a creative centre for 11–25-year-olds to help them develop skills in performing arts, music and media which has benefited over 16,000 young people with creative opportunities.  In addition to all of this, in 2008 Roundhouse Radio was launched which developed the careers of young radio presenters, producers and DJs.

It is such a versatile and inspirational event space which can be utilised to host a dinner, product launch or awards ceremonies.
