The Science Museum is an inspiring London venue that is available for both corporate and private hire. Â The exhibitions, galleries and creative blank canvas spaces make it a unique venue that can provide a fabulous backdrop to any event.
Originally known as South Kensington Museum, in 1862 science collections from the museum were moved to separate buildings on Exhibition Road.  The South Kensington Museum was formerly on the site of The Victoria and Albert Museum.  In 1909, the South Kensington Museum’s art collections were renamed The Victoria and Albert Museum and the science and engineering collections that had been separated became officially known as the Science Museum.
Work began on the East Block in 1913 but due to the First World War, the works were not fully completed until 1928.  Following the completion, in December 1931 the Children’s Gallery was opened which showed that there was a need for the public to visit and not just specialists.
In 1949, the buildings from 1862 were demolished in order to construct the ground floor of the centre block in order to house the Science Exhibition of the Festival of Britain in 1951. Â Between 1963 and 1969 the centre block galleries opened from the top floor downwards.
The Science Museum is always striving to be the best place in the world for people to enjoy science.
