The hotel, overlooking Portman Square Garden, honours Sir Winston Churchill with its’ bespoke design details that you can relate to his life and legacy.
In 1552, part of the 270-acre estate was granted to Sir Henry William Portman, Lord Chief Justice to Henry VIII. In 1970 it was opened by the Loews Hotel Group and the hotel’s developer Sir Eric Miller named it The Churchill.
After a couple of different corporate acquisitions of the hotel, in February 2004, Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced that it would take full management of The Churchill and from 1st May 2004 it was known as Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill.
The five-star hotel has welcomed many famous faces including Barack Obama back in 2008 on his presidential campaign and there he met Tony Blair.
