This is a beautiful, elegant event space in Knightsbridge featuring period features such as a black and white marble floor, floor to ceiling windows, and a grand sweeping staircase making it a perfect venue for both stylish wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions. Kent House Knightsbridge can also be hired for corporate events such as conferences, dinner and press days as well as private functions and parties.
Built in 1790, the first house was rented by Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and son of George III who then enlarged it and named it after his own title. Prince Edward had a tunnel built underneath the road linking the house to Kensington Palace which allowed to have secret meetings with his mistress. His mistress didn’t stay long with Prince Edward and he later married and had a daughter, the future Queen Victoria. Many distinguished statesmen and authors occupied Kent House until it was demolished in 1870.
The second Kent House was home to the first mistress Lady Louisa Ashburton and this is the building that stands today. Later, Lady Noble, who was the granddaughter of the railway engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, invited leading musicians of the day and the famous Les Ballet Russes to perform there entertaining actors and actresses.
Lady Noble left Kent House in 1940 and gradually the house fell into a state of disrepair and then the third renaissance began in the 1960s.
It has since undergone restoration encompassing its original design and classical elegance for which Kent House was always known for. It is now considered one of the best venues to hire for exclusive events and celebrations.
