The Biltmore is a 5-star luxury hotel located in the affluent Mayfair.
Architect, Richard Seifert, designed the building and it was constructed from 1967-1969 by Grand Metropolitan Hotels and was known as the Britannia Hotel. In 1981 it was renamed as the Britannia Inter-Continental London after Grand Metropolitan Hotels acquired Inter-Continental Hotels.
It was sold on in October 1996 to Millennium & Copthorne Hotels and was again renamed, this time as the Millennium Britannia Hotel. Following a renovation in 2000, it became known as the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair. In 2006, the hotel’s Pine Bar was the location of the famous poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko.
It was again renovated in November 2017 and is estimated to have cost £50 million! In July 2018 the hotel closed in order to complete the renovations and reopened in September 2019, this time as The Biltmore Mayfair and it is now managed by Hilton as part of its LXR Hotels & Resorts luxury division.
